Bible Study Plan for Healing
Start Your New Year with a Healing Bible Study
As the new year begins, it’s the perfect time to reflect, renew, and seek deeper healing…physically, emotionally, and spiritually. For anyone navigating cancer, chronic illness, or other health challenges, starting a healing Bible study can be a life-giving way to draw closer to God’s heart and experience His peace and restoration.
Immersing myself in God’s word and His heart for healing was such a strength during my healing journey from cancer. I know without a doubt that God loves us and wants to heal us. How do I know? Because what did Christ do while he was here? He healed! He healed! He healed! And He can heal you too. These are the promises I held tightly to.
Here’s how you can create a powerful and personalized healing Bible study to guide you into the new year with hope and purpose.
Who Can Benefit from a Healing Bible Study?
This Bible study is for anyone seeking God’s healing touch in their life. Whether you are:
- Battling a health condition like cancer or chronic illness,
- Carrying emotional wounds from past hurts,
- Experiencing spiritual fatigue or needing encouragement,
…this study can help you find comfort, strength, and hope through God’s Word.
Healing isn’t just about physical restoration…God desires to bring wholeness to every part of your being. This study can help you explore His promises and walk in His peace, even in the midst of uncertainty.
Getting Started: A List of Healing Scriptures
For this particular project I chose a brand new Bible that was going to be specifically for this new scripture study plan. I wanted a Bible that was beautiful to look at and that I knew would be filled and highlighted with all of God’s promises and examples of healing whenever I reached for it, or needed encouragement. I will post links at the bottom of this post if you are interested in the same one I bought. But let’s get back to creating our Bible study, shall we?
Here’s a collection of powerful Scriptures to start with and meditate on. Take time with each one, letting God’s Word sink deep into your heart:

Suggestions for Journaling, Reflection, and Highlighting
To make your healing Bible study meaningful and personal, try these ideas:
1. Journaling:
- Write Out Scriptures: Choose one verse a day and write it down in your journal. This helps you internalize the words.
- Reflect: Ask yourself:
- What does this verse reveal about God’s character?
- How does it speak to my current situation?
- What step of faith is God inviting me to take today?
- Pray Through the Verse: Turn the Scripture into a personal prayer. For example, with Psalm 34:18, you might pray:
“Lord, thank You for being close to me in my brokenness. Help me feel Your presence today.”
2. Highlighting in Your Bible:
- Use different colors to highlight themes:
- Pink for God’s love and compassion
- Yellow for His promises
- Blue for verses that bring peace and calm
- Write notes in the margins about what each passage means to you.
3. Create a Scripture Reflection Notebook:
Divide your notebook into three columns:
- The Verse: Write it out.
- God’s Promises: What promise or truth does this verse reveal?
- Application: How can I apply this truth in my life today?
A Daily Routine for Your Healing Study
- Set Aside Time: Choose a consistent time each day—mornings are great for starting the day with peace and hope.
- Start with Prayer: Ask God to speak to your heart and guide your study.
- Read and Reflect: Spend time reading one or two Scriptures, meditating on their meaning.
- Journal: Write your thoughts, prayers, and any insights God places on your heart.
- Pray Again: Thank God for His Word and ask for His healing in your life and the lives of others.
The Bible I’m Using
As promised, here are the links to the products I used to create this. There are many beautiful Bibles out there, but I chose this one because I thought it was beautiful, I liked the NIV version and because it had margins for journaling. But definitely choose one that speaks to you and your heart.
