Decorative Party Toast
Last month in our HealingStrong meeting we discussed party foods. So I want to give you a quick and easy plant based party food that I have taken places before that is not only pretty to look at but also tasty to eat.
This is an easy 4-ingredient recipe that is so simple to make which makes it a perfect food to take to any function that will also impress your friends and family. Let’s look at the ingredients…
Baguette
Choose a whole grain or sourdough baguette if you can, as these will be a healthier option.
Hummus
You can make your own or buy from the store. Explore many of the fun flavor variations of hummus out there, there are a lot to choose from! I think I used a garlic hummus in these photos this time.
Baby Tomatoes
Choose the colorful heirloom organic tomatoes if you can, because they make this dish cute and cheerful. They are sometimes called cherry tomatoes or grape tomatoes. Be sure to get organic because tomatoes have been on the Dirty Dozen list for years and tend to have higher amounts of pesticide residue still on them. You can also use this guide to help safely wash them.
Parsley
For a fun, edible leaf on your toast, choose flat parsley that has some nice large leaves to them. Together with the colorful tomatoes, it creates a delightful little flower effect on the toast.
And then you just assemble all these ingredients on your baguette and voila! I love simple and easy dishes that taste great and even better when they look cute and impressive! That’s a win in my book!
