One of the best ways to make the switch to a natural deodorant a success, is to do an armpit detox. There’s no doubt that switching to a natural deodorant is one of the best things you can do for your health, but the transition can take a little getting used to. After years of using conventional deodorants filled with aluminum and synthetic chemicals, your body may need some time to adjust while it detoxes.

Ingredients You Will Need:
- Bentonite clay, or another natural clay like French green or kaolin clay

- Optional: Tea tree essential oil, for it’s antibacterial properties

Instructions:
- About 15-30 minutes before your shower, apply a thin layer of the mask to clean, dry underarms. You might feel a slight tingling sensation, which is normal. If irritation occurs, you should rinse it off immediately.
- While you are waiting to hop in the shower, consider adding other healthy habits like meditation, stretching, yoga, juicing, or making your breakfast, for instance.
- Rinse off in the shower using warm water, then pat your underarms dry.
Clay Mask for an Armpit Detox
This simple clay mask is gentle, effective, and easy to make at home to help detoxify your armpits and make the transition to natural deodorant easier.
Ingredients
- 1 tablespoon bentonite clay
- 1 teaspoon apple cider vinegar
- 1-2 teaspoons water
- Optional: 1 drop tea tree essential oil
Instructions
- In a non-metal bowl, combine the bentonite clay and apple cider vinegar. The mixture will bubble slightly—that’s normal!
- Add water a little at a time until the mask reaches a smooth, spreadable consistency.
- Optional: Add a drop of tea tree oil for its antimicrobial and soothing benefits.
- Apply a thin layer of the mask to clean, dry underarms.
- Let the mask sit for 15-30 minutes. You may feel a slight tingling sensation, which is normal. If irritation occurs, rinse off immediately.
