Naturopathic Oncology: Add This To Your Library Today
While there are several books I highly, highly recommend while you’re going through the cancer journey, today I want to introduce you to one of the most useful books I used that ended up being such a huge blessing while I learned to blend natural therapies alongside chemotherapy treatments.
Naturopathic Oncology: An Encyclopedic Guide for Patients and Physicians is written by Dr. Neil McKinney, a renowned naturopathic doctor with over 30 years of experience specializing in cancer care.
Dr. Neil McKinney has an impressive list of achievements in the field of naturopathic oncology, including:
- Founder and Director of Vital Victoria Naturopathic Clinic: Dr. McKinney established this clinic in Victoria, British Columbia, where he specializes in cancer care and integrative medicine.
- Author of Naturopathic Oncology: An Encyclopedic Guide for Patients and Physicians: This comprehensive book is a go-to resource for both cancer patients and healthcare professionals seeking a naturopathic perspective on cancer treatment.
- Extensive Teaching Experience: Dr. McKinney has taught at institutions like the Boucher Institute of Naturopathic Medicine in Vancouver, where he trained future naturopaths in oncology and holistic medicine.
- Consultant for Cancer Care Clinics: He has consulted with various cancer care centers and clinics, providing expertise on how to integrate natural therapies with conventional cancer treatments.
- Research and Lectures: Dr. McKinney has contributed to research on naturopathic cancer care and frequently lectures at medical conferences on integrative oncology, sharing his knowledge on topics such as nutrition, herbal medicine, and supportive therapies for cancer patients.
These highlights reflect his significant impact on the field of naturopathic oncology and his dedication to advancing integrative cancer care.
In this book, Dr. McKinney provides a comprehensive resource on holistic cancer treatment, focusing on natural therapies, nutrition, and lifestyle changes. And by comprehensive, I mean this book is a huge 600 page book packed full of information.
Some of my favorite highlights:
- Detailed discussion of each chemotherapy drug and how to specifically support the body to not only protect the healthy cells but also to help the treatment’s performance
- Detailed information on commonly used supplements used to support the cancer patient
- The large reference section in the back full of citations to medical studies and articles
- So much more I can’t even list! I have so many bookmarks and highlights in this book from all the researching and referencing I did with it!
This book will help you fill in the gaps and help treat the body from multiple angles. Most oncologists won’t or can’t give you information on nutrition, exercise, mindset, supplements and other supportive or alternative therapies during cancer treatments but this book does. For this reason I feel this is a very important tool to use in fighting cancer if you want to treat the whole body and attack cancer from all angles.
And for those who are worried or have people in their lives who are worried about how different treatments will affect their loved ones cancer treatments, this book can offer you well researched assurance and information to help you choose and use other appropriate therapies that can be integrated into their cancer protocol.
This book was so supportive for me during the cancer journey I went on. In fact, I would place this book among my top 3 most important books about cancer. The book is a little pricey, probably because it is so large, but it is definitely so worth the money and I highly recommend it!
To your health and healing!
