The Secret Of My Favorite Green Smoothie

I have been drinking green smoothies for YEARS. In the past I have usually rotated through different greens like spinach or kale, but recently I have started using a new green to me that has been amazing and so delicious!

What’s my new favorite green smoothie ingredient you ask?

Introducing…Napa Cabbage!

Close up of Green Cabbages

Napa cabbage provides such a light, refreshing taste that doesn’t taste too “green”, if you know what I mean! It seems to let the other fruity flavors shine through!

Using napa cabbage has quickly become one of my favorite simple ingredients in green smoothie recipes! Let’s look at the simple but powerful ingredients in this smoothie recipe:

  1. Napa Cabbage: This crunchy veggie is packed with vitamins C and K—both essential for immune support and bone health. Napa cabbage also contains glucosinolates, which are sulfur-containing compounds that may help detoxify the body and protect against certain cancers, particularly colon, breast, and lung cancers. Plus, it’s high in fiber, great for digestion!
  2. Orange Juice: Fresh-squeezed orange juice is a fantastic source of vitamin C, which acts as a powerful antioxidant to help protect your cells from damage. It’s also rich in flavonoids, especially hesperidin, which has been studied for its potential role in slowing cancer cell growth and supporting heart health. A refreshing burst of immune-boosting goodness!
  3. Bananas: Bananas are rich in potassium, which supports heart health, and vitamin B6, important for brain function. They also contain fiber and antioxidants that promote digestive health. The lectins in bananas have been studied for their potential to inhibit the growth of certain cancer cells. Plus, they’re a sweet and satisfying snack!
  4. Flax Seed: Flax seeds are tiny, but they’re a powerhouse of omega-3 fatty acids and lignans, both of which have anti-inflammatory and anti-cancer properties. Lignans, in particular, have been shown to slow tumor growth and may help reduce the risk of breast cancer. Flax seeds are also high in fiber, which is great for digestion and can help lower the risk of colon cancer.

And now for the recipe itself!
